what's up guys my name is amir welcome back to the channel today we're going to be unboxing the huawei y9a this phone is the successor to the hugely popular y9 prime 2019 and then the y9s and this phone also has that pop-up selfie camera and a fully notchless display experience price here in pakistan is 44 000 rupees and the price internationally should be around 200 euros the phone comes in three different colors so sakura pink midnight black and our device today space silver so the main features of this phone are a pop-up camera a notchless display and super fast charging so let's go box on the very top is the handset itself let's go ahead and unwrap it this time huawei have gone with this ultra glossy look and i must say this phone looks really good then we have another box in which you get a sim ejector tool a user manual and a silicone protective case huawei y9 also comes with a 40 watt fast charging brick and last we have a usb type-c cable so starting off with the build and design the huawei y9a comes with a glossy back as i told you earlier and huawei is calling this a 3d arc design with a natural gradient dazzle texture effect yeah i think that explains it the back is made of plastic sorry no gorilla glass here and the back end frame have these curved edges the phone feels a little chunky in the hand which i really like talking about button placement and ports on the side we have a power button which also doubles as a fingerprint sensor the speed of this fingerprint sensor is okay usually i don't have any issues with these side mounted sensors anyway along with the power button there are also some volume keys here while on the top we have a headphone jack and the pop-up selfie camera on the left side we have no buttons and on the bottom there's a sim slot a usb type-c port and a speaker grille now for me this phone's biggest selling point is the display it's the 6.63 inch full hd ips lcd panel but what really sets it apart is that it doesn't have any notch or hole punch cut out which gives you this beautiful fully nauseous experience that i was talking about while you're using this phone so when you're watching videos or playing games there's nothing interrupting your viewing experience no hole punch or dew drop giving you a dead spot in your screen at full hd resolution the screen is also very crisp with a pixel density of nearly 400 ppi to me this notchless display is the biggest reason to buy this phone but what makes it possible is the camera tech that this phone has so on the front we have a 16 megapixel motorized pop-up selfie camera along with a quad camera setup on the back here we have a 64 megapixel main sensor which gives you some very nice images with this high megapixel count images are detailed dynamic range is also decent and the camera reproduces colors pretty accurately i'd say there's also an 8 megapixel ultra wide camera for that zoomed out perspective and here you do see a drop in quality due to the lower resolution of the sensor then we have a 2 megapixel depth sensor and a 2 megapixel macro camera which i find to be useless in all phones i am yet to be in a situation where i really need a macro camera on my phone so at this price point i would call this camera experience pretty good specifically because it's got a 64 megapixel camera and also because of that pop-up selfie camera moving on to the specs the huawei y9a comes with a mediatek helio g80 chipset along with the mali g52 gpu 8 gigs of ram and 128 gigs of ufs 2.1 storage so at this price point we do see much better processors like the mediatek helio g90t as well as the snapdragon 720 g so having the mediatek helio g80 is definitely a compromise but in order to have special features like the pop-up selfie camera a notchless display and also ultra fast charging you will have to compromise on that processor which i think is not such a bad deal because the helio g80 is a gaming oriented processor and most of your games will run on high quality i played pubg on this phone it ran pretty well and it pretty much goes without saying that this processor will also handle most of your daily use apps i didn't see any lag or structuring issues while using this phone felt pretty smooth to use the phone also comes with a hybrid sim slot so you can either put two sims in it or one sim and one huawei's proprietary nano memory card but moving on let's now talk about that elephant in the room the software experience so the huawei y9a comes with android 10 out of the box with huawei's emui 10.1 on top but as you know huawei phones don't come with any google apps or services since that whole google ban thing happened instead now we have the huawei app gallery and in the past i've been quite critical of how the huawei app gallery has been missing many apps but over time i have seen the huawei app gallery grow for example now we have more local apps than we did before so some local banking apps easy pass up and from my conversations with people at huawei i know that they're making efforts to prop up their app gallery huawei has also built in what they call petal search which allows you to search for apps on different platforms so you'll find apks to many apps that aren't in the huawei app gallery yet so i think this is a step in the right direction and over time more and more apps will come to the huawei app gallery as well but for now i think you should check whether all your important apps work on this phone before you actually go ahead and buy it moving on we have a 4 200 milliamp hour battery or 4 300 in certain regions but in this one it's 4200 which is not a small battery by any means but it's not that huge battery that i particularly like you'll go through a day with this battery pretty easily and you may even have some battery left over at the end of the day but what sets this phone apart is the charging speed so the charger included in the box is a 40 watt super fast charger which will charge your phone up to 70 percent in half an hour so full battery in less than an hour and this is also one of my favorite features with this phone not only is this the fastest charging you can get in this price range it also makes up for not having a huge battery in this phone i think huawei's y9a is a very interesting phone it has a 64 megapixel camera that takes very decent images it has super fast charging which works great but more than anything i really love the notchless display experience in the past phones like huawei y9 prime 2019 were hugely popular because of the same reasons and i think having a noseless display offers a unique experience especially while you're watching videos or playing games on your phone and this is something that most other phones in this price range
